Akasa Air Baggage Policy in 2025: Know Your Limits & Avoid Extra Charges

All the things you plan to carry when you purchase a ticket with Akasa Air, the fare comes with one free checked-in bag. 

• Weight limitation: You may carry one check-in baggage, and its weight will not exceed 15 kg. 
• Size limit: The units of measurement for the check-in baggage include the length, width, or height, and all units of measurement will equal no more than 158 cm (62 inches).

This Policy only pertains to the vast majority of domestic flights in India. You should be prepared to have no more than a single 15 kg carrier checked in to avoid incurring any additional charges. 

What About International Travel?

When travelling to places like the United States or Canada, you can check in two bags with Akasa Air, each weighing up to 23 kg. This is really useful for travellers flying long-haul and needing additional baggage.

Each passenger is allowed to carry one cabin bag with them on board the aircraft.

• Weight Limit: Up to 7 Kg, and its weight should not be more than 7 kg.

• Size Limit: No larger than 115 cm total ( length + width + height). This includes a backpack, laptop bag, or small suitcase. Just make sure that it fits in the overhead locker or under your seat. 

Sometimes, 15 kg of luggage is not enough. You may be travelling for an extended period, or perhaps you are just carrying a few gifts. Ideally, Akasa Air allows the addition of excess baggage.

• How to: You can pre-purchase excess baggage on the Akasa Air Website while booking your trip, or after you have completed your booking, you can log onto their website.
• Why it helps: It's cheaper than purchasing at check-in. If you know you will be exceeding the limit, it makes sense to plan ahead and save a little cash.

Akasa Air has some specific rules about Baggage Allowances with infants/ children, students and as it pertains to purchasing extra seats (for comfort or carrying fragile items).

• Infant: If you are flying with an infant (under 2 years) you will have an additional 7 kg of hand baggage for an infant. This additional baggage will help allow you to transport diapers, milk, toys, baby chairs, etc.
• Students: Students travelling under the student discount fare will receive an additional 10 kg check-in allowance beyond the standard 15 kg. This is a great option for travelling to a college/ university or going home during breaks.
• Extra seat: If you buy an additional seat ( your additional seat for personal comfort or for fragile items), you will receive an extra 10 kg check-in baggage allowance. 

These little bonuses make all the difference in your journey, depending on what you need to carry for your trip.

If you do not like standing in long queues, Akasa Air has a Priority Check-in Baggage service. This provides you with access to a separate check-in line. Your luggage is among the first at the baggage belt upon arrival. It is a minor enhancement, but it can save you a nice amount of time if you are pressed for time.

Sometimes, baggage is simply delayed or misplaced. Akasa Air has a reasonably stated policy that accommodates customers:

• On a Domestic Flight: It indicated you would collect expenses up to INR 22,000 per bag.
• On an International Flight: The maximum of INR 70,000 is on an international flight, which generally applies to two bags per customer.

So, if you really lost or damaged your bag, you do not have to be furloughed.

Akasa Air Airline has also introduced a door to door baggage delivery service. They will pick up your bag and take it to the destination address. It is handy if travelling with plenty of luggage and wish to have an airport experience with nobody carrying luggage. They also allow baggage storage for a maximum of 30 days.

In 2025, Akasa Air has introduced a reasonable luggage policy, especially advantageous for international fliers, students, or families with children. No matter whether you are travelling abroad for a few days, on a business trip or have a long weekend coming up, it helps to think about your luggage and bedding plan early, and it will help you save your time and money. Make sure before you leave for the airport you check your luggage weight. If you think you might be slightly over, then the smart move is to create a reservation for extra space ahead of time.
